License Agreement
Last updated October 5, 2026
This is the agreement you accept when you install or use Rockland Scanner. It is also shown by the installer and in the app (About > License agreement).
Version 1.0
This End User License Agreement ("Agreement") is a legal agreement between you (either an individual or the organization you represent, "you") and Rockland Analytics LLC, a Delaware limited liability company ("Rockland Analytics", "we" or "us"), for the Rockland Scanner software, including its documentation and any updates we provide (the "Software").
BY INSTALLING, COPYING OR USING THE SOFTWARE, YOU AGREE TO THIS AGREEMENT. IF YOU DO NOT AGREE, DO NOT INSTALL OR USE THE SOFTWARE. IF YOU ARE ACCEPTING ON BEHALF OF AN ORGANIZATION, YOU CONFIRM THAT YOU HAVE AUTHORITY TO BIND IT.
1. License
1.1 Trial. You may use the Software free of charge for evaluation during the trial period shown in the Software. Reports produced during the trial are marked as trial reports.
1.2 Paid license. When you purchase a license, we grant you a perpetual, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the Software on up to two devices at a time, for your own business purposes, including providing services to your own clients. "Perpetual" means you may keep using any version of the Software released while your updates period was active, for as long as you like, subject to this Agreement.
1.3 Updates period. Your purchase includes one year of updates, starting on the purchase date. During the updates period you may install and use any new version we release. You may renew the updates period for a further year at the renewal price shown on our website. If you do not renew, you keep the versions released before your updates period ended, but newer versions will ask you to renew before they can run scans.
1.4 License keys and activation. Your license key is for your use only. The Software activates on each device online and checks your license from time to time (at least once a year). You may move a license from one device to another by deactivating it on the first device in the Software, or by contacting us.
2. Restrictions
You may not, and may not allow anyone else to:
- (a) copy, distribute, rent, lease, lend, sell or sublicense the Software, or share your license key;
- (b) reverse engineer, decompile or disassemble the Software, except to the extent applicable law expressly permits this despite this restriction;
- (c) remove, bypass or interfere with the license checks, trial limits, report markings or other protections in the Software;
- (d) remove or alter any copyright, trademark or proprietary notices; or
- (e) use the Software to build a competing product.
3. Your Data
3.1 The Software runs on your computer and connects only to the databases and files you choose. It reads data but does not change it. Reports contain table and column names, counts and findings, not the values in your data.
3.2 We do not receive, access or store the data you scan. To activate and validate a license, the Software sends us your license key, an anonymous identifier for your device and your device's name. To start a trial, it also sends the email address you enter. Our Privacy Policy describes this in more detail.
3.3 You are responsible for having the right to access the data you scan, and for complying with the policies and laws that apply to that data.
4. Nature of the Results
The Software provides an automated assessment based on structure and samples of data. Its scores, findings and recommendations are informational. They are not legal, regulatory, compliance or security advice, and they do not guarantee that data is accurate, complete, secure or suitable for any purpose. You are responsible for decisions you make based on them.
5. Ownership
The Software is licensed, not sold. Rockland Analytics and its licensors own all rights in the Software. All rights not expressly granted to you are reserved. Third-party components included with the Software are licensed under their own terms, listed in the Third-Party Notices file installed with the Software.
6. Updates and Support
Updates we provide during your updates period are covered by this Agreement unless they come with different terms. Support is provided by email as described on our website.
7. Term and Termination
This Agreement lasts until it ends. A trial ends at the end of the trial period. A paid license does not expire, but we may end it if you receive a refund or your payment is reversed. Either party may end this Agreement if the other materially breaches it and does not cure the breach within 30 days of notice. When this Agreement ends, you must stop using the Software and uninstall it. Sections 2 through 5 and 8 through 11 survive termination.
8. Disclaimer of Warranties
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE", WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS, IMPLIED OR STATUTORY, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SOFTWARE WILL BE ERROR-FREE OR UNINTERRUPTED, OR THAT IT WILL DETECT EVERY ISSUE IN YOUR DATA.
9. Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW: (A) NEITHER PARTY WILL BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOST PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA OR BUSINESS OPPORTUNITIES; AND (B) OUR TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING FROM THIS AGREEMENT OR THE SOFTWARE WILL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US FOR THE SOFTWARE IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM AROSE. THESE LIMITS DO NOT APPLY TO YOUR BREACH OF SECTION 2.
10. Export
You must comply with all export control and sanctions laws that apply to your use of the Software.
11. General
11.1 Governing law. This Agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.
11.2 Entire agreement. This Agreement, together with your order and our Terms of Sale, is the entire agreement between you and us about the Software.
11.3 Changes. We may update this Agreement for future versions of the Software. The Software will ask you to accept a changed Agreement before you continue using it.
11.4 Severability. If any part of this Agreement is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect.
11.5 Assignment. You may not assign this Agreement without our written consent. We may assign it in connection with a merger, acquisition or sale of assets.
